The District Sponsers frowned. "It's Dinner!" She called towards the boy.

Rue frowned, she looked around trying to see where their mentor was. She couldn't be sure.

Rue sat down at the table. The dining cart was brought out by an Avox. Another on followed.

The mentor straggled in, a bit drunk. Apparently he was drinking most of the supply of achohol.

Rue tried to remember seeing the mentor drunk, she couldn't. Every Games he was perfect. It might be just on the train, hopefully.

Arkarian sat down next to Rue and ate some of his food. He looked up at the mentor but didn't say anything to her. He instead turned to Rue. "No matter what happens, one of us has to live through this." He whispered to her.

Rue cocked her head, towards Arkanrian. She nodded her head once. "Aren't you supposed to help us?" She said to their mentor, and District Sponser.

Arkarian looked up at them and then took a bite out of the meal, half paying attention to the conversation.

Their mentor smiled. She grinned, "Listen, princess, what are your strengths?" She asked with a bit of an attitude.

Rue blushed, "Climbing trees." That was all she was good at.

The mentor turned towards the boy.

Arkarian looked up at the mentor. "Pretty fast runner, Great tree climber. And even though this probably doesn't count, I swang sticks around as swords when I was younger, and then habit sorta stuck so I might be pretty doos with Twin swords. But I'm not sure." He said and then lowered his head and continued eating.

Their mentor frowned at Rue, disappointed. But smiled towards Arkarian. "It counts." She said, simply. Her attention drifted back to Rue, concerned. She didn't know how someone that small could survive.

Rue coughed, embarrassed. "I, Er, can also swing on branches." She continued. Rue wasn't a fighter, she wouldn't last a second, fighting someone older.

Arkarian looked down at the little girl sitting next to him. He hadn't met Rue before today but something told him that she could outsmart most of the Careers and that the only way one of them could kill her is if they got lucky. "Rue, don't worry about being embarrased. You got an advantage over the Careers." He said to her.

Rue laughed. "I can't fight." She said and shrugged.

The mentor grinned wider. "Perfect!" She exclaimed.

Rue smiled, "Outlasting everyone?" She asked, and their mentor nodded. "I'll be in the trees." Rue said.

"Exactly. If anything from the past Games has taught us is that the Career tributes are pretty hotheaded and won't expect a little girl running around in the trees above them. You got the better chance between the two of us at surviving, Rue." Arkarian said to her with a smile. However on the inside his heart was breaking. He loved Daila, he wanted so badly to be with her and not here. But here he is off to die in an Arena.

Rue frowned, "You just said you could climb trees." She said. "Why wouldn't you be in a tree, when you could be?" Rue thought it out, there was major flaws to her plan, mostly because she didn't know what the Gamemakers had in store.

"Because I'm a fast runner as well. And in the end I don't want it to come down to me and you, Rue." He said to her and then got up and headed back to his room.

Rue was speechless. The other two haven't talked much, but she was grateful to that. She didn't want it to come down to them two either. She knew he would win, and she might even let him. Rue sighed, not feeling hungry anymore.

Rue walked into her room, exhausted. She wasn't going to be able to sleep. That was obvious. But, she went to her room anyway. When she collapsed onto her bed, she started to cry. They were quiet sobs, but were getting louder.

Arkarian slept a few minutes but then woke up to the sound of crying. He got up and streched a bit, then left his room and foolowed the growing sound of sobs. He stopped in front of Rue's door and knocked on the wooden structure.

"C-come I-in." Rue said, her voice shakey. She wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. She shut her eyes tightly, she opened them, but just buried her head in her hands. Rue sniffled, trying not to cry anymore:

Arkarian opened the door and stepped through, shutting it behind him. He walked over and sat down next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him. "You ok, Rue?" He asked her, even though he already knew the answer.

Rue frowned, she didn't understand why she was crying now. The whole situation just settled in, that was most likely why. She just shook her head no, scared if she opened her mouth she would cry again.
